  • Hi guys

Firstly NB congratulations, I had an emerald engagement ring but our house was burgled and some idiot stole it, unfortunately I couldn't wear it to work as I'm a nurse and had to leave it at home, so had to spend more money on a new ring and then got divorced 5 years later lol, and still have no money. lol but enjoy it, you have a man who loves you and cares for you and that's what's important.

Today I have done my pigsback clicks,
    checked my bank balance online
phoned Virgin Active about my PT refund
    done my ironing
spent £2 drying my washing as I've got my ex coming to stay
over tonight and needed to put clean sheets on his bed
(long story - we were kids and outgrew each other)
am now making spag bol for dinner from the storecupboard and
some woopsied mince from Waitrose 99p for 600g

Cheers everyone, have a great day.
    Cheers
    Casper

Hi everyone. Today I will - have a NSD. Brought lunch from home & colleague gave me a piece of his homemade quiche. Check online banking/creditcard. Walk hounds & do my weights. Evenings entertainment will be a dvd borrowed from work colleague. I am aiming for a NSW (weekend) will just be doing housework, dog walking, baking and sewing. Seeing my friend but we are going for a walk instead of lunch out. I think thats it! Have a good one everyone xx

  • Hi everyone,
I was hoping for a NSD but DS (13.5) is mooching around bored and moaning about all his mates being out. So I have just given him every last penny I could muster from my purse and the house to go the the cinema this afternoon. He has taken crisps and choc biscuit and has about a quid for a drink!!! I know I am a soft touch but at least now I can get on with my ironing in peace, dd (aged 5) is happily painting.

On the plus side I took delivery of home shopping today and we have all our meals planned for the next 9 days all for £58. Brilliant.

Checked online banking and we have been paid so our third month of living without an OD starts today. We are paying off an overdraft that we have left behind but being able to live from day to day and see the new account staying in credit is such a boost.

Also checked our gas and electricity account because got an email to say new bill had arrived:eek: , we pay by direct debit so was hoping for no big surprises any way was pleasantly surprised to see we are £62 in credit ready for the winter months. Much better than last year at this time because it was only £29cr this time last year.

So overall, I am pleased with my money saving situation today. :D

  • :jWell done Ruby
:j a belated well done to Andan for passing your test.
    :jCongrats to NB too!

:jHope smellyoldsock's hubby is OK too.

I have done a few good DFW things today but NSD's are not happening in my house! I blame the school hols - roll on next week ( well not really, it's been a lovely summer even if the weather has been carp!)
    :T
Haven't got the energy to do a list here as I've done next week's meal plan YAY! Just got to get over DH doing the shopping now but he has got a list :rotfl:
    Getting there...slowly! :D

    GC : must do better
    NSD: very rare

No matter how slow I go I am lapping everyone on the couch.
  • Remember peeps, no MSE tomorrow... so no going shopping instead of being on here!! If the August retail stats are skewed, we'll know why ;) :rotfl: might get OH to confiscate my travel card!
  • Another dfw task today - um gulp sit down with brother (currently living with us kinda temporarily) and ask for his 'contribution' to be a quarter of our outgoings. (me (single mum) and 2 sproggies + him makes 4)

He gets - rent, all mod cons, bb/phone 3 squares a day (2 + ample pack lunch) as many cakes/coffee's as he can consume

I need to ask him for £65-70 a week and am terrified!! (he currently giving us £50 to 'help out'.)

How come its easier to be frugal with banks etc than it is from family.

I figure he benefits as well from my DFW attitude......eats like a king (cos I am in control of the food)

Am I being terrible? DId the sums and our household needs about 1200 a month to sustain it warts and all........therefore 1/4 that is about 65-70 a week.

    ?
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:

I know that feeling, my DH either gets everything but on a really small scale, so that he can come in way UNDER budget or he goes around merrily putting things into the trolley only to get the checkout and see it is too high and put some of the ESSENTIAL items back!!!

I have loved the school holidays because I have been off work, the thought of going back next week is not a nice one.

    xxx
