Friday 29/08/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will:
  • check online banking
  • clicks
  • storecupboard meals
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • Start tidying house, usually do saturday but have busy weekend ahead so will do a bit tonight.
  • Pick some stuff up for mum from Boots for when brother gets out of hospital and get some points on card.
  • Try and have a NSD or LSD
  • Squeeze one last days travel out of petrol in car, just about running on fumes but only going local today;)
Woo Hoo it's Friday:j Can't wait for the weekend it has been one of those weeks here:rolleyes: .
Enjoy the day everyone.
Painted Lady ((((:heartpuls hugs))) Just try and get through one day at a time, depression is terrible to deal with. Enjoy your time with your friend, and try and stay positive. You can always have a moan about things on this thread.

Catch up with you all later:D

  • Happy Friday everyone!

    Had a lovely night out last night for under a tenner thanks to the 50% off Pizza Hut voucher and the freebie tickets to see Rock'n'Rolla and it all ended up with me receiving my lovely engagement ring I've wanted ever since the question was popped a couple of years ago :)

    So I'm in a very good mood and today I have/will:

    * Store cupboard dinner.
    * It's takeaway night tonight (and I don't pay) and there should be a cheap bottle of Blossom Hill (3 for a tenner) waiting for me in the fridge. So, hopefully a NSD.
    * Faint in shock at OH actually asking which ISA to open... I was going to bug him about it because we should really start saving now the ring's on the finger but evidently, he's thinking the same.
    * Gather up some ID to open the joint current account tomorrow... we've not got round to it yet as our local branch doesn't deign to open at weekends any more. This will pay for treats to help us budget.
    * Checked online banking.
    * Checked Quidco (woo.... £17 cleared in there)
    * Already done a Valuedopinions survey for £1 and will do them throughout the day.
    * Work hard... got a pay review on Tuesday so fingers crossed.
    * Keep smiling.

    Over the weekend:

    * Go into town early and open the current account.
    * Try not to spend too much on food and drink at the match tomorrow.
    * Open a joint savings account with the OH once the current account is sorted. Squirrel some emergency money away.
    * Chill out... think it's going to be a quiet one.

    Painted Lady... I hope you are well my love. I suffered from depression for years thanks to a family break up. I know it's hard, but you have to try and remember that things will get better eventually and you'll be so much stronger for the experience. Take every bit of comfort and happiness where you can and remember there are always people to talk to. I found that talking talking talking helped so much more than any magic pills they chuck at you.

    Anyway... my warmest Friday cheers to everyone yet to appear :)

    Morning all

    I've brought in lunch - I usually do them in advance in the evenings but as I was out last night I forced myself out of bed ten minutes earlier to make sandwiches!

    Dinner - leftover fried rice still!

    Have bottle of wine in fridge so may have a glass after late swimming - didn't bother last week as I didn't get home until nearly ten.

    Have a good day all.
