My house had a pre-pay meter when I moved in and I put up with monthly top-ups for so long but got fed up.
My pre-pay was with nPower, so I just rung them up and asked to swap to a credit meter. I made an apppointment during the call for an engineer to visit and make the physical meter change. He had to turn off power to the house for a couple of minutes to complete.
Cost? Nothing! All went very smoothly.

My son had the meter changed at the flat he rented. Again, it was a simple job which took no time at all.0
