  • Dilemma for Chat - I really need some DFW's opinions.

I have been offered more hours tutoring

i only start this week, tues and thurs, my boss has offered me Saturdays too, from 9.30 to 12.30.

it would be around 50 quid a saturday......... which is a hell of a lot to turn down. 200ish extra a month would clear the CC really fast.
but it would mean working a six day week, two of which would start at 8 and finish at 7.30.

    what do you think?

    I should just say yes shouldn't I?

I can sympathise - I'm taking on teaching 2 evenings a week as well as working 7 days a week during the day - but I need the money!

Buffy - is it whole days on the 2 long days? Or can you get home in between? Get some down time in between shifts/sessions?

i worked 2 jobs, 1 admin/1 bar equating to 6 days a week, 2 midweek long days... but it was 2 different environments so wasn't such a drudge.... it can be done, as Keren shows, but it can't be sustained for too long....

    IMHO

I've completed my ICB level 1 book keeping exam today... sammy is checking it for me as she is familiar with the question paper.

I need to have it back to them by 8th September... then i will be on my way to the first part of my book keeping qualification! Yay me!!!

I'll pop back and have a look :D

Buffy - sadly, yes. Not through choice though. I do 18.5 hours in the office, then a mixture of afternoons, evenings (when OH is at footy practice or out) and then Saturday and Sunday on AQA. I've just been taken on a teacher of adults and I've currently got 71 hours teaching offered to me between September and March, all of it in the evenings.

I hate it :( I would love to have a Sunday off or a Bank Holiday. I've worked the last 2 Christmas Days, Boxing Days and New Year Days as well as all over Easter. On Christmas Day, OH pops home for 3 or 4 hours to phone family and see his DS. I pop to see Charlie and then do 3 hours or so on AQA.

All this and I'm still struggling to pull in £1100 a month.

I got my WTC form through today so I've filled that in and it'll go in the post this afternoon. I should get around £24 or so a week, which will be fab. I'm gutted that I didn't realise before now I could get it, I could have had this coming in since the beginning of April this year but, at least i'm on the case now.

EDIT: WTC moving onwards. I can't let out a room as I only have a small house. My second bedroom is used as my office for my self employed work and is where family stay. To be honest, I would absolutely hate having a lodger and the house isn't big enough (2 bed, 1 reception room bungalow). I didn't enjoy house sharing as a student!

  • the tutoring is lovely, five kids under 11 all working on different things.

School, is essentially hell! well its not much fun.

I am worried about managing Avon, E bay (the post office) and Open university. not to mention actual marking from School.

and just for the record The Descent is very very disturbing.

ah yes, studying. Add that to my 'mix' as well  for finding hours in the day, although to be fair i'm not studying at the minute, but I will be again soon.

I also only take mystery shops which are supermarkets or food as I don't have the time to go to town, hang around a mobile phone shop being 'sold' to for 20 minutes and then come back home again, just to earn £5.

I could do with having a clothing clearout for Ebay as well. It keeps popping into my head and then getting re-buried.

  • It would be hard work, but I guess it depends how much I want to be debt free by Dec09.

    aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

its all about planning and being organised. PO before tutoring, making sure I have portable lunches and dinners.

and the ending of the descent was !!!!!!
