I've read way too many horror stories about Clarks to trust my toddlers' feet to them. It's a shame because when I had my first child, back in 1987, Clarks' reputation was second to none. Now it seems they've succumbed to the distasteful 'sale at any cost' mentality so many other business have adopted.

I have a 19mo and a 2&1/2yo and I get their shoes from a local independent shop. On two or three occasions I've taken them to be measured and been told that they still have adequate room in their current pair of shoes and that I can leave it a few weeks more.

Nothing guarantees my repeat business like knowing I'm not being ripped off.

It annoys me that Clarks is the biggest shoe chain in the UK yet they do not provide for those who have very wide feet? Are they saying that my dd is the only child to have this problem?

    MM

I currently have this problem, my 9 year old son is a size 6 H fitting, and I have always gone to clarks for the Doodles plimsoles, only to be told yesterday they do not make plimsoles after size 5 1/2 H.

Does anyone know where I can purchase wide fitting plimsoles from in an adult size 6, the school are insisting he wears plimsoles for indoor P.E, they can insist all they like, I can't buy them if no-one makes them.

(I live 30 miles away from the nearest big city and I don't drive, so it would be useful if I knew I could purchase them from a particular shop before I get the train because of the high train fares etc).

I would most appreciate any help

You could try here for black plimsols. Mens size 6 should be wider than the normal children's shoes Clarks sell.

I used to buy cheap black plimsols for DD in cheap shoe shops, never paid Clarks prices for a shoe worn once a week!

M&S sell black plimsolls from £2 and they're quite wide.

My daughter's feet are narrow so she can't wear them so I buy the ones that do up from velcro from there but the slip on ones should be fine for wider feet - and wayyy cheaper than Clarks too!

Poppy9, many thanks for the link, I'll take a look.

Marks and Spencers are not wide enough. I have literally been to all the high street shops and none are wide enough.

p.s. I appreciate Clarks are expensive, but I never had an option but to buy the plimsolls, he has very wide feet and for the sake of £8.00 I wouldn't want to damage his feet.

Well I've always had good service from Clarks and have never felt any pressure to buy shoes when they weren't needed. We did, also, get a polaroid taken when we bought our boy's first shoes - it's out of focus and he's standing off-centre, but it was a nice gesture.

I can't buy Clarks for my 11 yo daughter anymore.
    She is size 9G.
I checked the clarks website prior to a trip and there was just the 1 pair of shoes my daughter liked and according to the website they would fit her so off we went.
Her feet were measured and shoes brought out.
To my horror they brought out boys shoes because they didn't have anything in her size for girls.
The assistant said they looked similar to the ones she already had - except they were nothing like and obviously for boys.
I asked if they can order the shoes that my daughter did like in but was told that they don't do this anymore but was given a number to ring clarks directly and if they had them in stock they could send them to me.

I have looked elsewhere but cannot find a pair of shoes that my daughter likes that will fit her - she hates the ballerina style shoes prefering laceups!
