credit card cheques

hi, I've noticed from various credit card companies that if you pay by credit card cheque you do not have as much protection under the CCA 1974 as you would do if you paid by credit card. does anyone know how exactly the protection differs?

Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 protects consumers using a credit card for purchases between £100 and £30,000 in the UK and overseas. Credit card cheques do not offer consumers this protection, but over one in five (21%) people believe they do and 64% don’t know.

Yup, cheques give you zilch protection, invariably carry a fee for using and get charged hideous amounts of interest when used.

When you get them, use the cross-cut shredder!

Well most of the time yes I agree, but not always.

For instance MINT periodically issue Credit Card Cheques that can be paid into a Bank Account at Balance Transfer rates, great for stoozers :beer:
