Free Smoke Alarms (again) but are you deaf?

Hi all,

just a quick one to remind you all that most of the countries fire services are offering a free home fire safety visit, free smoke detectors, and more importantly for anyone that is Deaf or Hard of Hearing .... special smoke detectors that have vibrating pads for under your pillow and flashing lights too.

These can be very expensive to purchase and i would urge anyone who is or has a friend or relative who has hearing issues to contact their local Fire Service (not by 999 :D lol)and request a visit and a detector.

As a firefighter i have fitted some of these and they are great pieces of kit ... so get one for free today!.

Thanks for the reminder Callansdad, in my view this particular freebie can't be brought up often enough... :T

I had mine fitted a few months ago, and am well pleased with them!
They do as you know, carry out a safety check on your home too.
    Best freebie I've ever received.

I admire you for doing the job which you do as a Firefighter, you are all angels...

have you also put this great find on the disablitiy forum? just incase any one misses it? I am thinking of getting the one that goes under my pillow, as I'm hearing impaired and my husband sometimes has nights away.

    YAAAY
i was half expecting to be told off for bumping an old freebie. but its still valid... and i do wonder how many homes dont have firealarms still.
We did this about 2weeks ago and they were brilliant. we had a smoke alarm, but in the wrong place apparently which could have cost us 5 mins of escape time the fireman was saying.
And i just thought, with all these xmas tree lights and plastic decorations on trees... which can be pretty flamable.... was worth reminding everyone. unplug your lights at night, and don't leave your tv on standby.
