I am an international student. Anyone know if I can apply for Loan here

Hi all.
I am an International student (postgraduate). Is there any loan in UK that I can apply for? Just a loan for £2000-£5000 and I can pay back within 1 year. Bank loan is too high %APR for me. Please let me know if you know about this.Thank you.,

If you're going to be paying back within a year does a higher interest rate matter that much? Not sure whether you're eligible for a Career Development Loan but it might be worth checking.

It is very difficult to get a loan if you have not be resident in the UK for at least 3 years. You might consider finding a guarantor to get a loan from anyway if you will be in the UK for only a year.

I don't understand why would you want a loan from here when you are not a permanent resident/citizen?

Why not get it in your own country were it would be easier?

Surely no one is going to loan money to someone who is a foreign national and not a permanent resident here, particularly in the current economic climate.

It would be like giving away free money.

@macchiato, prepare your loan application by showing the bank that you have a regular income and that you can pay it back in a year.

If you can prove to the bank, via wage slips and bank statements that you have a steady flow of income, I think it will help your application.

Secondly, yes you do have be a resident but to be quite honest, it varies from bank to bank. I know of NO bank that refuses loans to non British citizens. It is all determined on whether you reside here or not.

Did you do your undergrad here?

Yes, I did my undergrad here. I have already been here for about 5 years. That might be a reason they consider giving me Loan too. Oh, I also got money regularly transfer (from my parents) into my account every 3 months.

I am going to invest this money on something :A to make profits :)
Really well that is fabulous especially seeing as how on your original thread in the other forum you claimed you couldn't pay your rent or buy food and you specifically said you needed it for that.
The thread about running up debts and skipping the country has also mysteriously disappeared as well, along with the other one about how to scam paypal by lying about goods not received.
