We already said all that in our post on the 29th! Are we invisible this week or something?!!“Official Company Representative

Any joy so far?
Hi there,
...not really..the car suggested was a 140ps Tdi. I'm hoping to get a 170ps Tdi, but thanks for the suggestion anyway. I have managed to pursuade my better half to allow me to go up to £14500 but I will wait a couple of weeks before approaching the dealers again- it depends if they are willing to sell a £14990 car for £14500? depends I guess how desperate they need to sell.
I did consider a car supermarket (ie Trade Sales, Slough) but I would only get a years waranty because you only get a further VW year's warranty if you buy the car from a VW dealer (ie 2 years manufacturers warranty+1 year dealer).
That said the current economic climate does make me think that I'm better off waiting a few months. This will allow used prices to drop due to the 58 registrations and also in January 2009 the new Golf comes out (although I'm not sure I want to wait that long..!).
All the best

Cool, hope you find something soon. With the Sept '58 reg's now out, there may be some more part-ex's due soon...?:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Hi all,
At last I managed to tweak the High Wycombe dealer into accepting £14650 on a 57 plate (Sept 07) Shadow Blue, GT Sport TDi(170), 6K miles, including one years road tax and some fuel to get me home..
Not bad.
I did have fun and games sorting out my Insurance with Norwich Union though. I had suspended my insurance for my Mitusibishi Outlander (£420 per year, started in March) in beginning of July.
I did an online quote and it came to £220 ie about half the cost of the Mitsubishi (with lower access).
Anyway, when the guy changed the current suspended policy to the golf, he said the payments would go up to £58/month??
Wait a minute I said that's equivalent to over £600 a year, yet the online quote said £250??
The upshot was that I was better off cancelling the old policy (I didn't get hit with a penalty) and take out the new online quote..
So now I will pay £22 per month (£220 excess) for a group 16, £15K Golf GT, as compared to the £41 per month (£450 excess), group 15? Mitsubishi Outlander (worth about £6K)
Blinkin madness!!
Lucky I was on the ball, otherwise I would have been screwed!!!
Cheers

Have you shaken hands on the car? See if you can get them to 'add in' the fixed price servicing option, there is a national VW version of this - and our local agent network (4 branches locally) offer one for servicing just within the group cheaper and undercuts the VAG UK one. Or add in at a low cost.
Has the dealer convinced you you need to add lifeshine package? If so take it off, get some quotes for it to be done locally. The dealer makes a large profit margin on this.Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!
There are three types of people in the world, those who can add up and those who can't.0
