    It's "doors open" days soon, have a look at the area you're going, and ask over on the Scotland board whether it's any good or not!

    Most museums are free in Scotland, the magnificent views are free too, as are the many beaches and forest walks, of course you get something else free with them all.... the weather...:p

    Consider Historic Scotland membership, if you intend doing a lot of the bigger castles (Edinburgh, Stirling etc) it can easily pay for itself, and gives 1/2 off English heritage sites for the year aswell.:D
