Problems with dvd recorder

I recently bought a dvd recorder that has a hd and video and have worked out how to record to the hd and onto dvd , but i'm pretty sure you're supposed to be able to record videos onto dvd. It says "high speed dubbing allows you to copy your videos onto DVD in literally minutes" on the Comet website anyway.

The problem is that i've tried and tried but can't work out how to do it

Does anyone know what programme I should have it set to when I record? Obviously if I was recording a tv prog onto the hd or to dvd , i'd have the channel number , like 1 for BBC 1 or L-2 for Sky , but don't know what channel to set for video undecided.gif What is F-1 for? there's also dv which I thought might be for camcoders , is it either of them? Think I tried F-1 though and it said something about not being able to record from NTSC , but the video I was trying to copy was definitely PAL so i'm stumped

Is it possible i've got the connections wrong? I've got a scart running from the dvd recorder to the tv (it's in the red scart socket , haven't a clue what that one's for) and one from the dvd recorder to the Sky box

TIA for any help. I bet it's something really simple icon11.gificon10.gif

Assuming I've got the correct handbook:

What you want is on page 67.

  • if you plug the video into the DVD recorder via scart then it'll pick it up on an AV channel.

Switch the DVD recorder on so you're view it on the TV. Press play on the video and hit the AV channel on the DVD recorder remote till you find the video playing.

I've got my PS2 running through the DVD recorder and that's how i found it

It's a dvd recorder and video combined though s_g , but is it the same principle?

Sorry , i'm feeling really thick about this , i'm sure it must be easy really icon11.gif

    See p66-67 of this manual.
  • I doubt if you will be able to do high speed dubbing with cassette to Hd, as you will only be able to dub at the speed of you cassette recorder i.e. 180mins tape etc. After you have dubbed it onto HD you can then use high speed dubbing to put it onto a dvd. I have a Panasonic EH50 & this is what I have to do with mine.
