hi, im moving in two weeks and have always moved myself in the past.... however im now moving to a first floor maisonette and am sudenly aware of how heavy the washing machine, cooker and freezer are! so... other than getting in removal men im not sure of any tricks for getting heavy stuff up a flight of stairs witout a) damaging the items and 2) managing not to kill myself in the process!!
any ideas of how to do this safely, i mean smoothly!! ;D
or does anyone know of cheap/ well recomended removal companies in the Southampton area?
Please help! The legal side of moving was a doddle compared to this dillema!! :-/

;)maybe to late now but cheapest days to move is NOT Fridays or Saturdays as most people choose those, try any other week day and you may save half the cost.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

Tricky though because you can't move in until the vendor has moved out and they usually want to move out on a friday................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

yes agreed its tricky, but worth while, but when one decides which date for completion day , usally at exchange of contracts, go for a thursday instead, make the other party aware and usally whole chain will move smoother as solicitors are usally pushed for fridays or month ends.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

the date that has been agreed (already exchanged therefore legally binding) is Monday. However the quotes that i have got form people e.g. to hire a van, or from removal companies have been the same even after they work out that it is a monday. Should i be trying to knock them down due to it being a monday? Im not very good at haggling!

Still... i would obviously rather move myself (dont like the thought of paying someone else to do something that pottentually i could do myself) even if it does mean i end up still trying to carry the washing machine up the stairs at 3am tuesday morning!! however i just dont know thatit will be possible. what have other people done in the past? ???0
