Hi all,
My girlfriend and I are in the process of buying our first house which should have been completed by this tuesday (there was a 28 contract on it because its a reposession)
We still don't have a date for moving as our solicitor is having real trouble getting the NHBC certificate (the property is only 3 years old) as she's had to go back to the solicitors of the people who previously lived in the house - not the reposession companies solicitor who she has been dealing with so far..
Basically they are saying they don't have to give her anything and are being very arrogant about it all!
She assures us it will be ok and that she expects to get hold of it by early next week.. but we were wondering - is there anywhere else we could get it ?
Do the council hold a copy or anything like that ?
Many Thanks!

What about contacting the NHBC people themselves and asking them about duplicate copies?0

Thanks for the link, looks like it may be possible to get a copy direct from NHBC; http://www.nhbc.co.uk/Claims/Whatiscovered/Answer,31975,en.html
I assumed it was issued by some local builder / achitect etc..! lol
Cheers!0 -
I stand to be corrected but I think the NHBC charge for a copy of the cert. Not sure on the cost but at least you won't have to wait!!0

I imagine that the cost is a lot less than 1/2 an hour of solicitors time.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0
