Well, I think I've been pretty lucky. I used the codes accross 3 accounts (2x mine and 1x OHs). Total orders 20 (all Christmas presents for people), received 12, the rest are listed as Posted, all debited from my account.

Looks like I'll be getting them all. I had one sub £5 item in there, and that's been posted and my account has been debited for that also.

I must express my sincere thanks to play for letting them through, even if they've just slipped by!

    Woooohooo!

You do know that they shouldn't have debited your account for that?;)

but they weren't over £18 together ..... they worked out ... oh no .. hang on .... forgot about the voucher

I think they split them to get them through the door too :D but it's all good, would rather that than having to miss a delivery then either go down to the sorting office or rearrange delivery ;)

they're packing one of my books that was out of stock when i ordered it. so that's 3 mirror vouchers they've let me have on that account. my husband has had 3 items and he also has martins book on order, so that's 4 vouchers he has used. they don't seem to have noticed, or they don't mind. both of our accounts were exisitng ones we've used before. is it only those who used ten vouchers that are having orders cancelled and accounts closed?

you know, i think it may have something to do with the speed at which you placed the orders .....

those that had them cancelled .... did you allow a reasonable amount of time in between each order so that they would not be processed consecutively (sp?) maybe the over use of vouchers was picked up that way ... maybe ... we could keep on guessing forever :rotfl:

Yeah, just got my pre-orders to wait for now :)

I was taking it easy as well thinking they would cancel everyones or notice it I order too much! Why is it you always think of things you should have got AFTER the event ;)

PS - Some people managed to use 20 vouchers on 1 account and get it all posted... PLAY.COM obviously only found some orders...
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:

just had a 'few' accounts rumbled: "Daily Mirror Voucher Use" emails. So i suppose i won't be seeing any of those orders (although some aren't showing all items as cancelled - so there's still a little hope).

Although i've already received 13 orders, and 16 others have been posted before they "caught" me. It's still annoying though to have some cancelled though :D

I think it's coming down to luck and which customer rep. ends up checking your account/orders - i think some couldn't care less, while others are being jobsworths and perhaps even checking the accounts via the postcode to double check.

It does annoy me that they can't give a proper reason though and misquote their own terms and conditions: "Contained in the Terms and Conditions is a clause which states that only one voucher per applicant may be used.". The terms on their site don't mention vouchers at all - so they must be refering to the terms of the voucher email or on the voucher application page. And the only similar condition in the email is "Only one voucher per applicant" and on the application page "Only one voucher per applicant. Vouchers are valid until midnight on Wednesday 30th November 2005. Vouchers are for a single use only." Strictly speaking the first condition is upon them - they breached their own terms by providing more than one voucher to an applicant (they should have stated each person can only apply once). And even so it doesn't say what would happen if there is more than one voucher per applicant. And taking a strict legal interpretation of the conditions - there is no mention of a limit on the use of the vouchers (only that each voucher is for single use) (It is also arguable that the vouchers that expired on the 2nd of December do not have the same terms and conditions since the terms are clearly refering to vouchers of a different sort - i.e. with a different validity date).
At best they could legitimately argue that the "universal" codes that were circulated were in breach of the "Play Ltd reserves the right to refuse any voucher application or voucher redemption if there is any suspicion of fraud or malredemption." condition (although i don't know they could show that anyone knew that someone else had already used it). But they shouldn't be cancelling any orders that were placed using a code that was only used once even if more than one voucher was used.
I realise this is all completely academic but my point is - if Play.com expect the consumer to abide by the Terms and Conditions then they ought to a) ensure that they were sufficiently clear in the first place and b) that they abide by the Terms which they've actually set and not re-interpret them, after the fact (and their massive screwup), in order to suit their circumstances.
