I have only ever sent them 1 letter and that was the statute barred one and I wrote the I DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEBT at the top of it. My CAB told me not to communicate with them and certainly not to talk about any debt with them, I await another letter shortly from their solicitors!

    Good - sit tight then.

  • I'll sit tight, I won't be replying to anymore of their letters, only letters that I shall be replying to will be the court letters (if they come!).

Thanks everyone, its great to get the support.
  • just a quick question - how can you find out if there has been any contact etc between yourselves and the original creditor in the past 6 years - I don't think there is on one of mine but how do I know for sure and is there a way of seeing at what date it becomes statute barred?
    Debt free date ????

Is there anything in your old bank or CC statements? Does the debt show up on your credit record?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • I'm pretty sure I've not paid anything for at least 4 years, and previously I'd had a debt management advisor (free one through work) arrange reduced payments on my debts etc which are still in place, and whilst my loan with Cahoot was included, it now seems that my credit card with them was not... I printed my experian report a couple of months ago so I will dig that out and check if it is listed but unfortunately I can't find my debt management stuff from 2002-ish and suspect in one of my fits of decluttering I may have accidently shredded it... arghhh

I've been paying about £20 each a month on my two debts for a few years now and have been offered the 75% off etc (shame I had no money!) but I was wondering, do they ever just get fed up and write it off or will they just keep taking my measly money until I pay it off or die?:A
