UPVC Door - Repair or Replace?

Options
How easy is it to repair a UPVC door?

We moved into a new house a few months ago and the back door is a bit tatty but with all the other things that need doing we didn’t see it as a priority.

The door has a clear glass panel in the top half and a UPVC panel in the bottom half. Can this panel be replaced as there is an unwanted cat flap fitted to the outside with some plastic tape covering up the inside.

We have also just noticed a problem of slugs getting in at night. I think this is because the rubber seal that fits around the bottom panel is broken. Again can this be repaired or are better off just buying a replacement door.

The current door could then be used to replace the old wooden external side door to the garage.

Thanks

  • the bottom panel can be replaced and if its therubber seal holding the panel in this can also be replaced or just go round were it was with black low modulas silicon sealant

Too late to answer this one, but a6windows has done it for you!

If it is not a priority, use some tape for now! that should block off anything! I had some white tape around a window for a while, the draft was annoying, but we were doing other stuff!, it worked for month before i got around to fixing it!!

Thank you both. Just checked when I got home and it's the rubber strip behind the dorrstep, not the panel. I will try both suggestions though.

    Thanks again
  • the rubber in the outer frame you will struggle with if still in one piece you could clean the rubber and channel it sits in then push it back in putting some super glue on the rubber first.if the rubber isnt intact you could fit alluminium angle on outer frame so that one edge touches the door
