Electoral Room Spelling Mistake

Hi,

I'm applying for loans my credit rating is good. i keep getting refused for loans so i did a credit check on my self it tuns out there is one letter spelled incorrectly in my surname.
so i spoke to my local counsel (Kirklees) they sent me new forms that i have filled out and sent back.
i called them today to see if the register has been updated they are saying the next update is on 1/12/08!!!!!
i asked them if there is any possible quicker way of updating this to which they replied no.
so is this true the register only gets updated once a year? because i'm in need of money and this 1 letter wrong in my name is causing huge problems

the register does only get updated every now and then. You could always ask for a correction notice to be put on your credit files for the electoral register bit, and say that you're down on the register as <whatever name it is> and you're having it corrected. Dunno if that'd work though

The main update is done in December, but 'amendments' may also be made at any time from December to August (the postal canvas takes place from September to November). Any amendment should be done within 6 weeks of asking. I believe this is also called the 'rolling register'.
