Paying a credit card bill

Hello,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but just need a quick guide.
I want to pay my Tesco credit card bill by cash this month but do not have a local RBS to visit. I want to pay it at Barclays where I have an account but wondered how much they charge to take the bill. I rang their (un)helpline and was told it's a branch discretion. I just need an approximate. If it's a silly amount I'll be better off going to the next town to the RBS branch. Anybody had this before that can help?
Thanks!
Julie.

No they're one of those that don't have branch numbers, just this helpline for all branch queries. Looks like I'll have to pop in and ask.

I thought if you paid a bill at your own bank they did not charge you.

However, could you not pay the cash into your own account and then pay online?

I could've paid it in, but thought this would be easier :rotfl:
But I have been to my Barclays and you are correct. As I have an account with them they will not charge me to pay my bill to another bank. Shame their helpline couldn't have just told me that! Well at least we know for future reference!
  • I have paid a CC Bill in a bank other than the Bank they ask you to pay it and was charged £10
  • Most banks will let you pay another bank's card if you hold an acount there but will only accept cash or a cheque drawn on your own account in this case Barclays.

Just out of interest, why does anyone pay bills at the bank these days?
Ring them or use the internet and pay with your debit card :)
