When you buy a house, do you get anything to say you own it once it has completed? I just got the keys, was wondering if you got anything else?

You only get the Deeds if you're mortgage free - otherwise it is a pile of bills and that is it

I think they register your name on the land registry as owner2013 wins: March - book,0

Property deeds are legal instruments that are used to assign ownership of real property, to transfer title to the land and its improvements such as a house. You must have title deed in order for you to own the property.0

The deed will be with the mortgage company.0

You don't have to have a physical document any more - it is the entry at the Land Registry that proves your ownership. You can get an official copy of this from the Land Registry but that's all it is - a copy.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -

Why'd you have to go and spoil things
I liked the idea that having the key proved ownership! 0 -
Sadly, you don't even get a framed certificate!
Keys and deeds with the mortgage company aren't enough to get a parking permit where I live  . I had to pay the solicitor to write me a letter saying I owned the house, for the council to let me buy a temporary permit to park my car, until I had enough bills to prove I was allowed to buy a permanent permit.0 -
You are registered as the owner on the official document at the Land Registry, which will also show whether you have a mortgage and if so who you owe the money to.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
