Hi,
My Son would like a Wii for Christmas and my daughter a Nintendo DS.
Where is the place for best value for money - I use Quidco so am used to the concept of cashback websites, can anyone recommend the best way to go about getting these expensive items that will perhaps save a few quid?
Thanks for your help all xx

Is second-hand acceptable? If so, then try somewhere like CeX, Gamestation or eBay. I also think Game sometimes has second-hand units in.0

Buy them now and put them away, so when there aren't any again this Christmas or the prices have shot up because Christmas you can sit and smile and know your okLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0

I went shopping with my boyfriend on monday and he bought a DS lite. The best deal we could find was in gamestation, they're doing the DS and a game and a starter pack (extra pen things, a case, etc.) for £99.99, but they'd run out of the starter pack so we need to go back and fetch it. If you were looking for one with more than one game with it, most shops seem to be charging around the same price, so it might be worth browsing to find the games your daughter would like best.
As for buying second hand ones, my boyfriend said that he didn't want to (they were around £79.99 at gamestation and game, and more expensive than new ones at CeX!) because the battery life is a lot worse. I'm not sure if this is true, or just his justification or it though! You didn't get the extras with the second hand ones, but you can get a 10% student discount on top at several places, assuming you know any students! I didn't see anywhere that offered this discount on the new consoles.
I'm afraid I don't know anything about the Wii, as I wasn't there when he bought that one!0 -
With regards to battery life, I've got a DS original which I bought on the release date and the battery still lasts for ages - so I wouldn't worry about buying a second-hand lite version, which are a lot newer than the originals in any case. Just make sure you check it over for scratches, etc, before purchase if you do choose the second-hand route.
Note that unboxed versions are cheaper than boxed, although there's no way you could pretend an unboxed one was new...0 -
Game have a good deal on the wii at the moment - console, controller & 4 games for around £240. If you have any old games (ps2 etc) then they will trade them in towards the wii - you probably won't get that much off though.
All I want is an opportunity to prove that money doesn't buy happiness
