Internet account ???secure??

My friends tell me that I need a "Firewall" ...and need to update antivirus software regularly to protect my Halifax websaver money....this worries me...??any advice / reassurance please Ian

    This would probably get a better response on the Techie Board.

    I'm no expert but FWIW, I use the firewall in MS XP and free anti-virus s/w from http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php

    You should have a firewall and regularly updated virus checker if you are browsing the internet - to protect your computer not just when you go onto your internet account. Maliciously minded people can see all the personal information you have stored on your computer otherwise and they can give you a virus that stops you using your computer.
    This thread on the techie board will be very helpful to you but you should check out the entire board.
