Help with ipod classic

Options
Hello

Just bought the 80 gig version and I seem to have messed up trying to copy music files onto the ipod. I couldn't seem to get the sync function to work using itunes so I copied some music files to the ipod using Windows Explorer. I noticed that there were four (i think) folders on the ipod disk including calander, recordings and contacts. None of the folders was called songs or music so I copied the files to the root. But the ipod can't see them which suggests that they should be in a folder - but what is it called?

Any help would be appreciated. I suspect that I have gone about this the wrong way. Have looked at online instructions but no joy so far.

Thanks

You cannot just copy files onto the ipod like most mp3 players. You must use Itunes (officially) unless you want to try using one of the unofficial methods like Yamipod.

No matter where you drag songs in the Ipod's disk, it will just refuse to see them - They want to force you to use Itunes so you'll be tempted to buy songs from them since it'll then only be a click to enter their store
