How long does it take -once you've opened the account online- before you receive the account details and are allowed to transfer money into the account?

I've heard nothing from them since opening the account 2 days ago (only the email stating the successful opening of the account). They mention 2 working days in the email. Are they usaully on time?

Interesting ... I've recently opened a KE a/c, and the first transfer was from a non-linked [my wife's]. I received a 'naughty boy" email saying they would accept on this occasion, but other transfers from non-linked accounts would be returned.

I just sent through £1.50 from a non-linked account and it showed up in Kaupthing, but I don't want a naughty boy email !! So I don't think I'll do it again.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

    Word of warning !

I have also sent small amounts from a non-linked account and all have been accepted.

Last week I had reason to call KE ref something else so enquired about the sending of funds from linked/non-linked accounts.
The reply was they would accept small amounts at their discretion, BUT if an abnormally high transfer was sent it would probably get rejected and snt back to the originating account.

Is the gamble of having a large amount of money in limbo sat between accounts for up to 7-10 days worth it ?

I got my sort code and account number by e-mail 2 days after the first e-mail- that was back at the start of August. Some seem to get asked for ID to be sent in whereas others don't, though, so I guess that requirement could slow it down.

I got my ID and sort code just before 5pm. Now waiting for password (by post) to arrive within the next 2 days.

All going ok for now. I've made first transfer.
  • All of this seems a bit strange as I was of the impression (no doubt somewhere in KE website) that the reason for dedicated linked accounts was because of money-laundering!!!! They certainly accepted my wifes and my joint current account as linked account to HER KE account.
