Increasing Egg card credit limit

I currently have an Egg card with a £3k credit limit, and I wanted to know what my chances are of getting an increase, before I go ahead and request it.
I always have nearly no debt on the card and dont use it that often.
I have 2 months ago started a mortgage as a first time buyer.
I have 2 other credit cards, both with zero debt and hardly ever used. One has £8k limit, the other has 3 or 4k limit.
Apart from the above info, never had any problem with paying debts (apart from forgetting to pay a card a couple of times 4 or 5 years ago).
Any ideas what my chances of getting an increase are? I could get rid of my other two cards if that would improve my chances.

Whilst not using the other credit cards you still have that credit available to you, so when a lender decides on what to give you then that could be taken into account. If you really do not use then then I would suggest cancelling them which will help you obtain credit in the future.0

Has your salary increased since they gave you the £3K limit?
If so they will give you a rise.
When you login to your card, click "maintenance" and there is an auto option for requesting a limit increase. They ask what you want it to be, and your salary.
I asked for a 2K increase this week. It replied in seconds that it was granted. Wish I asked for more!0 -
Six months after getting my Egg card in Jan 05 with a 4.5k limit,i applied for an increase online.I have done so every couple of months,so i now have a 9k limit ready for my anniversary in Jan 06.
I found it better to do 1-2k increase at a time,i think?Sponsored by Tesco Clubcard Points !!0 -

It would be very unlikely for egg to do a credit check, so long as you have had your card for 6 months or more and only ask for 1 or 2 thousand then they should approve the increase.0 -
isn't it something like £1k per day increments on the auto request system, max figure is £15k, I know that worked a while ago for me for anniversary purposes0

I have had my Egg card for around 5 years now, limit went up bit by bit every year to £3,900. Just requested £10,000 and it was given straight away, although I'm currently spending £120 a day on it for business advertising costs and my income has gone up 10x since I first got it. Currently looking for a better reward card with this type of spending.
I was hoping they'd give a 'Reason you want a rise' box so I could pad out my argument, but was pleasantly surprised.0 -
Anyone have any further thoughts on this? Should I just try and increase by £1k this month and £1k again next month, or try for a bigger amount all in one go?
My anniversary month is in Jan, so want as much as I can get by then0 -
You can send a secure email if the automated system turns you down. It turned me down when I asked for an increase for my anniversary in seconds - no way it credit checks. I phoned and explained that I was more than a bit annoyed at being turned down, I owed nothing, earn in excess of 30k and was asking for an increase on my 1.5k credit limit when I already had more than that in my Egg savings account. On the phone they advised me to send a secure email outlining all of my circumstances to be considered by the underwriters.
After that I got the increase I asked for in the first place. The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0 -
If you have two Egg cards with a credit limit of £3,000 each or whatever else you can move some from one to the other if you phone them up so say make one £1000 and the other £5000.
If you find this helpful press thanksNice to save.0 -
Doubled my limit form 5K to 10K last month, with no problem.....0
