I need to get a satnav quick for a cycling holiday in the French/Italian alps.
I will be using this for when I get lost rather than following a route second by second like in a car.
So zooming in and out, finding placenames will be important. Will need a good level of detail too.
Are they mostly the same map-wise, level of detail and functions? I don't need traffic/speed camera type things.
Cheapest on Argos is Binatone at £110. TomTom is £170.
Ironically I did a market research exercise years ago for TomTom who were thinking of lauching a tomtom for bikes. We all said we'd never use one...
Many thanks experts out there!

wow they are a lot much more money.
I'm not sure I need the cycle computer functionality. I'd just rather take a device than a large road map.
Based on this is it worthwhile to pay for a better brand than RAC, Binatone?

Update:
I bought a Garmin Nuvi Europe with a mains charger for £160 from Halfords
This has a much better battery life than the TomToms and there is a bike-mount for it although Halfords (being a bike shop too) do not stock it.
Used it to plan my route through the alps on Friday.0 -
I have a Garmin Quest, even with 3 yr old maps it is a 'must-have' abroad. But I see Amazon have a Garmin Nuvo 250 for a little short of £90 with Euro maps. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-Nuvi-250-Satellite-Navigation/dp/B000OV16MQ?ie=UTF8 that is a bargain. The nice thing about Garmins (and it may well be for other makes) is that you clip them off the car mount and they work 'on foot'. Mine has modes for car/bike too.0
