law on doors being close to top of stairs

is there one? looking to move a bedroom door closer to the top of the stairs, its at 90degrees to it but is there a law saying how close is too close?

I believe there are laws on this concerning Health and Safety. Your Council's Planning & Building Control department are the ones to contact on this, but it really isn't a very good idea if it can be helped by a different design layout.
You may also need a surveyor/structural engineer to determine the load bearings of the walls/roof above.:EasterBun

My bedroom door frame starts where the top of the stairs end. Can't get much closer than that, lol.
(House and all others in this area were built like that originally.)
Agree with suggestion to contact P&B Control for advice though. Times may well have changed.Herman - MP for all!
