Hi

I know it's a stupid question but I just need to check. I need to put some money in my daughters boyfriend abbey account. (Thye are currently abroad) My daughter suggested a BACS transfer but I know there is a charge for this. The only suggestion I have is I could go to any local Abbey branch with his details and pay cash into his account. Would this show up the next day as available funds instead of paying for a BACS ??

Any suggestions welcome?

Thanks

Mandy

A straight transfer won't incur any charge and you can do it easily online but if it is being sent from a different bank it can take 3 workign days to arrive.

If you pay cash in over the counter it should show by close of business same day, although some threads recently have suggested you can't withdraw that cash until the following working day.

yes, if you pay cash over the counter it should appear as available funds straight away..... and why hasn't he got a Nationwide account so it's free use abroad?

  • My advice is move all accounts out of the Abbey they are a law unto themselves and not to be trusted one bit. They will tell you one thing and do the opposite.
  • Many thanks for your replies.

They are both going to be opening a german account as they will be living there for the next 2 years.

    Thanks
