simple trick: go to any address bar in windows and type the following:
%temp%
That will take you to your temporary files folder. You can safely delete everything in there. There may be a few that will flash up a warning saying you can not delete them, this is ok. it just means these temp files are in use.
CCleaner will get the rest of the stuff

I'd beg to differ there. If I've got 10,000 cookies in my profile it'll take longer to load than a profile with 10 cookies. CCleaner will delete these and more. I've been using this product for more years than I care to remember! There's a good registry cleaner included too with it.0 -
Hi, XP has Disc Cleanup
Start/ All Programs/Accessories/ System Tools/ Disc Cleanup and follow the options.0 -
So have I, doesn't make anything noticeably faster, it's all in the head, same with registry cleaners and defrags.
It all depends on the severity of the issue. Not many cookies? No noticeable difference. Don't have that many fragmented files? No noticeable difference. I have seen the difference on numerous machines however over the years...0 -
An average pc hard disk is littered with data, deleting a few k or meg is a drop in the ocean. I'm not saying don't do it, just saying if you are expecting your pc to suddenly speed up, you are likely to be disappointed. A microsecond of extra head movement, isn't noticeable to me.
We'll have to agree to disagree! I generally would say run CCleaner and a defrag once every couple of months. Most people won't see a massive difference but for some it will definately be noticeable.0
