Hi smeghead,
I hope that you don't mind, but I am going to move your thread over to the motoring board, where hopefully you will recieve more replies.
Pink
Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

Hi Smeg,
Not a full history/finance report but something that is available on the RAC site (you may well have seen it) is the Vehicle data search, which is free.
From the registration it will give you the info as held by the DVLA and is a good starting point when checking out a vehicle.
It's also interesting tapping in registrations of cars you used to own or personalised plates like DB 1, N1 GEL and A5 TON.
You can find it here:
Vehicle Data Search
Good Luck.

best to go for hpi check which states if the bike has been written off, insurance loss, any finance outstanding etc. it also gives a guarantee that it will reimbursh you if the info is incorrect.
it will cost but should give you a piece of mindProblem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

just run mine through there...
apparently it was stolen recovered in 1996 but according to that site the date of manufacture was 30th December 19960 -
It doesn't give exact dates for cars before sometime around 2000.0
