    We are being positive!

Currently houses are not selling due to a mixture of fear and lack of credit. A lowering of house prices is a prositive thing as it will help to fix those problems. People will be able to buy at a level where credit is available to them.
  • I think we are all missing the point here why can you not accept some people have a positive point. You all make hout they are mad, but it is OK if someone is posting houses have fallen 50%!

Most seem to have a positive point on this board. It's just that some people can be more positive than others, due to yet another property crash in UK history.

Boom, bust, boom, bust, massive boom, massive crash. Some things never change.

Edited to say, I looked on the singingpig site that Brit directed us to. I can't believe that some LLs think the government should help them:confused: Some are even writing to watchdog and getting support groups together as they feel they have been scammed by some companies. Some have exchanged on new builds, but don't want to complete now and others have empty BTLs. Did they really think that house prices were going to continue on the massive boom and never bust:confused:
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
Read the sticky on the House Buying, Renting & Selling board.

  • I think a lot of people have miss understood your point or maybe I have.

I read this as asking why people cannot be positive to posts in that you are not asking for people to state positive news about house prices, economy, fuel prices etc etc etc but that if someone posts something that is contrary to others views then the replies are generally in a negative way

Post 1: I think I will buy myself a nice red shirt

Reply post 1: You are absolutely mad, red is so last year, fashions have changed, do you not read the fashion guidelines. dont be a fool, you should buy green

    etc etc etc

I think everyone should remember that this is a forum, debate is healthy and opinions vary.
Maybe martin should run a course on how to debate ;)

After 2 pages of replies some one actualy reads the question and not just sees the word positive and jumps on that.:T
2 pages of house prices falling are positive but you dont read the question, I think to many people rely on headlines in this forum.

well this is the house prices forum...

did you expect them to put it in context of Savings/Mortgages/Debt...?

I'd say at least 70% of people are positive, around 28% are hesitant and 2% are VIs.

Perhaps you should be clearer when creating the thread.

The title is "Why can no one be positive on this forum"

    And your opening statement is...
Why if you respond in a positive way people try to make out you are an idiot.
Not all people are going to be effected by the credit crunch so they can be positive surely. It is only a point of view after all.

I think people have tried to answer, but it is not really their fault if they misunderstood what you were getting at.

    I still don't understand.

    I still don't understand.

Perhaps the people with differing views from yourself are not the idiot then.
if you read the statement it is clear, as someine else understands it. you just read the title.

I'm really sorry. The fact is, only one person out of most of the posters has understood properly the question you were posing. Can you rephrase the question so we can be more helpful with our replies?

    Thanks.

No my point is proven and quiet deliberate most pople on here only read what they want to read. There is a very samll amount of people who are fair and balanced, the rest have a very cynical view on life and people.
Perhaps some of you could say why this is so.

There are posters on MSE forums who try to make posters out to be idiots. They are rude and unpleasant to lots of posters for lots of reasons.

Then there are posters who disagree with another post and say so in a reasonable way.

And there are people who think that when someone disagrees with what they say, they think that the person disagreeing with them is trying to make out that they are an idiot.

I disagree with you when you say that not all people are going to be affected by the credit crunch. The reason is that it rolls over into pretty much everything where money is involved. Not everyone may be affected to a large extent, but there again, that may not be true two years down the line.

So - I don't think I have just tried to make out that you are an idiot, simply not agreed with you. :D

Well that is certainly true for me. I don't read stuff I don't want to read. If you mean that I don't read or listen to stuff I disagree with then that is incorrect. In some ways I pay more attention, in order to understand the reasoning for the different view, to compare it against my understanding, and to either strengthen or modify my opinion.

I think there is a large number of fair and balanced people on here, who try to discuss / argue issues in order to understand various topics. If it was otherwise I certainly wouldn't want to be posting here.

As for a cynical view, yeah, I'll agree with that in my case, but I won't speak for others. Nothing wrong with cynicism in my book, better than invading Iraq for example.

I hope I have finally understood the question, and answered satisfactorily.
