OU M150 - Anyone else? :o)

Hiya

I've just signed up for M150 Data, Computing and Information for September start. Is anyone else doing it too?

I've no idea how much time it's going to take so I'm starting with a 30 pointer - just to take it easy! :)

If anyone is doing this (or has done it and has some advice), welcome to this thread.

If not, I've killed off another thread in record time!

I'm taking this course, just started too. Not really done anything towards it as of yet as waiting till I get my PC grant as I'm using someone elses PC at the mis so dont want to leave my saved work on someone elses computer.

I finished M150 a few months ago, and found it interesting. The Javascript programming is hard work, but the rest of it was quite simple. The nice thing is there is no exam at the end of it!

If you already have an interest in computers then you should find it easy, it is one of the simple courses IMO, but then I've studied for 120 points this year.
  • Great thanks for your help uk did you also do T1750 as the same time as I was thinking about doing this as well?

Is this your first uni level stuff?

This year I did M150, T172 Technology for a sustainable future, and U216 Environment. Last year I did S103 Science and T175 Networked Living. T175 is a good course, and would fit well with M150, as there is some cross over with these two.

Last year was my first study above the NVQ I did the year before and the 'O' levels 20 years ago. Next year I'm doing 120 points at level 2 & 3, it will be hard work, but next year I'll have more time on my hands. This years 120 points were done at the same time as working full time, often 50 hrs a week plus, moving house and spending time with the family.
  • Thanks Uktyler! I will try and do both this year then. Have you got a degree already? I'm just trying to work out should I go to uni as they have the 1 year working for a company or will I get enough from just having a degree, this is optional though.

I want to do more network side of computing although not sure which degree route to go down.

What are your plans to get uktyler?

    Regards,
    K

I took T175 and M150 out of personal interest, and I'm working towards an Environmental Studies degree. Most OU degrees allow you to mix and match a few courses to get the required number of points.

Any OU courses you do can help get onto a university course, for instance I could use my OU courses to get onto the second year of an Environmental Science course with a one year work placement in New Zealand, however I think my wife might complain if I went for a year without her!

I should get an Open degree next year, and my full degree the year after.

Hiya, I did M150 as my first OU course last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. This may sound silly (and won't apply until much later on in your course) but make sure that you copy and paste your code into your TMA documents as well as providing the working HTML files. I accidentally sent off one without doing this for two of the questions for my final TMA and got docked marks :o

I'm currently studying T175 and I'm intending to pick up M255 in February (as should get the funds together by then!). My big aim is for B13, the BSc (Honours) Information Technology and Computing, and may even have a crack at a Masters (shhhh...;) )

I've registered for this course starting in Feb 09....just got my books etc for L194 and am soooo excited!!!
How do I apply for the laptop grant though? And are there any other grants etc available? I'm currently on IS so I've got my courses fully funded.
Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:
