Advice needed - House Harling

Mum and Dad are looking into getting some repairs on their old stone build cottage. It has harling (pebbledashing) on outside which is 50+ years old. There are cracks in some places and they are not sure as to the best thing to do

1. Chip out and replace cracked areas with new harling and then paint the outside of house. It has never been painted before but they desperately dont want a bodged repair that everyone can see. Property is in rural area with limited builders in the area.

2. Use a firm called aquasealcoatings.com. They promise to repair cracks and use a coating to reduce dampness in property, paint on top, no visible repairs etc Quite a high price, but energy savings too.

Dad a little cautious about this firm as can only find an 0800 number and no real address and wondered if anyone here had heard of them ....good or bad?
Any advice please?
