Yesterday, on the front page of the Metro was a story entitled Switch to digital TV "will be a disaster". Halfway through it states, "But Ofcom said families would need to replace TV sets, video recorders and ariels......."
I can appreciate that TV sets will not work until a freeview box or something similar is fitted (unless it's a digital TV) and new ariels may be required due to reception probs but given that say a freeview box is fitted, will it not be possible to record on my trusty old V.C.R. and play it back ?

I read this story, with all it's ridiculous statistics on how much it was going to cost. It was utter nonsense. Really - it must've been a slow news day.
VCRs will of course work with freeview boxes. However, you won't be able to record one channel while you watch another - unless you have two boxes.
I loved the part when it got to the end of the horror story and it pointed out that three fifths of housholds have already switched!0
