Is there any specific elements that arn't displaying properly in Firefox, or is it just generally all FP pages?

My guess is that FrontPage is generating none standard compliant HTML which is only rendered properly by IE.

You can try running the page through the HTML validator which should point out the problem area(s) of the page.

Do you have a link to any of the pages so we can see the specific problems?

Validation will check well-formedness of the document against the DTD. It won't help with any rendering issues which are the domain of the browser.

Getting IE and Firefox to visually look the same is a tiresome job.

They may find it better to design for Firefox first which is more compliant and then add a separate stylesheet for the IE versions.

Is it a CSS or table-based layout?

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Can only help if I can see the source code of the problem page.

Front Page is notorious for putting in either IE only or IE optimised code. Dreamweaver imo is the best wysiwyg but costs a packet. If your friend is interested in learning HTML, the only way to do that is by hand. Homesite is very good and costs about 99 quid I think, comes free with dreamweaver. However, if he only wants to produce a site and not bother with learning html, then he should stick to a wysiwyg and accept that sometimes there will be layout issues. As long as the site actually functions and the user can navigate around, that's the most important thing.

Developers tend to build for Firefox, tweak for IE because IE is buggier. The Web Developer extension for Firefox is very useful for its validation features too.
