I am getting a combi boiler ftted in the next week or so. Currently I have an electric shower which is not very powerful. I want to install a new shower which will be powerful but understand that power showers do not work with combi boilers. What is the best type of shower to get which is powerful and will work with a combi boiler. thanks

In my experience with combi boilers, you get the best result from having bath taps with an integrated shower head rather than having a seperate shower unit running from the combi boiler. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Your electric shower is fed from mains water. If you have poor pressure then it will be poor pressure to the combi (which is also mains fed). If you change to a thermostatic shower you will have the same problem.
What pressure do you have in the street...do you know ?
We have 4bar here. I found this out after I complained about the poor pressure to my house. They came and tested it. I found out the house was supplied in 15mm copper.........from the road  and the mains stop tap had corroded too !. I replaced it with 25mm plastic and the connection was done for free(I told them I was replacing lead  )
I kept the shower electric...bought a 10.8kw mira sport and everything is just peachy !
Remember...other appliances will rob the hot water from the shower if you have the combi supplying the hot. I'm not a big fan of combis supplying showers.

I have two Daryl showers and a Bosch Worcester combi. Plus a hand-held showerhead at the bath tub.
Pressure (mains pressure) on all showers is fantastic, much better than the electric shower we had before - PROVIDED that they aren't used at the same time! The Combi serves all of them based on your mains pressure, plus your dishwasher / washing machine / sinks, so the more are used at the same time, the lower the pressure on each gets.
It's perfectly ok for two people, I think - but if you have a family who all need to get ready at the same time in the mornings, it can be a bit of a problem.0 -
Before we had a combi boiler fitted we had a lousy 7.5kw electric shower - it was barely adequate, going hot or cold if someone so much as looked at one of the taps. Got a combi boiler fitted and were recommended a thermostatic shower. That's been fine, constant flow of water at constant temperature.0

The one good thing to be said about having a high KW rated electric shower if you have a combi is that if the combi breaks down, you'll still be able to have a decent shower. If you're going to run a shower directly off of the hot and cold then it should really be thermostatic to minimise the interference of other use of water, rather than having it off of a mixer tap. Aqualisa do a tap-incorporated thermostatic shower so you wouldn't need to open up the wall or run separate pipe work, and other similar (and probably cheaper) products are also on the market.0
