My DD needs a bank account for her EMA to go into. Can anyone recommend a particularly good young person's account?
I'd like to avoid the Halifax, I bank with them:rolleyes: and have found their service to be pants:mad:. Nationwide is out too as they don't have a branch in town.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

I bank with Natwest and I find them to be pretty good. I can't say anything about their rates and all the small details but they offer good student accounts and adapt accounts with offers such as free railcard, 2 for 1 Vue cinema tickets, etc.0

Thats only for uni students. Not college.
I would just go for a normal bank account. HSBC give a solo card which can more or less be used anywhere and I have found their customer service and internet banking good.
Lloyds offer a VISA debit card which can be used in even more places.0 -

Grr I missed this one. Had to get the account sorted out today, as she starts back at school tomorrow and time will be limited. I assumed that this one would be for over 18's because of the overdraft facility. We've gone with the Abbey 8% one which was second on Moneysupermarket's list. For future reference that 8% rate is only applicable if the parent's main account is with Abbey. Moneysupermarket don't seem to mention this. I do have an account with Abbey and they seem to be no worse than other banks - well, apart from last summer's debit card debacle:rolleyes:.
Thank you to everyone for your replies.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

I'd also recommend Lloyds if there's anyone else in a similar situation. I've been with them since I was 16 and their interest rate is ok at around 3%- better than other current accounts.0
