what should i tell egg now?

hi, i've recently lost my job and have fallen into arrears with egg. With charges, etc, i now owe around 80 pounds, and my payment date is today! i probably owe more now! they keep calling me, but i darent answer the phone. i dont know what to tell them! i'm awaiting JSA, and had assumed that it would have arrived by now, but ive been waiting over a month now, and still nothing. So today i have literally run out of money, and i'm in a panic. i've missed all of my DD payments. i know i should speak to egg, but i dont knoiw what to say. i've applied for loads of jobs and hope for something soon, so should i shut up about the fact i'm unemployed in case they panic and put me in debt collection? argh! they're ringing me now, they really are so persistent, i think its obscene how they harrass you. Theyve called my home and mobile 3 times today! Please can somebody advise me as to what to say as i'm really worried?

Talk to them, they won't be nasty over £80. Just say what you've just posted.

However, if you really don't want to talk to them write to them summarising the same info. And yes, definitely tell them you are unemployed and waiting for benefits. Tell them you need some time and will let them know when you've got a job sorted out.

If you really only owe £80 nothing is going to happen.

PS Cancel your direct debits today. You will only end up with a pile of charges.

  • Stop panicking. £80 is not a large amount of money. Tell them the facts like you just said. If you keep ignoring the calls you are just making things worse.

If they know your situation they may be able to wait for your JSA to come through. Keeping them updated even if you cannot pay them is much better than ignoring them.

Keep trying and you will get another job.

Hope it works out for you.

Hi, is your monthly payment £80 or is that the total amount of debt with Egg?
