My mum used to say rich people didn't get rich by spending money, they really are tight, and it's true the less you spend the more you have
  • Hi
I don't think I have posted here before but would like to know if anyone can help.....
I started my own business last Oct, loving it, but started with a family loan as have 3 credit cards, overdraft (graduated last year) and OH who thinks he should have been discharged from bankrupcy but haven't had any paperwork to say so (we did move house and paperwork lost in move!).
Business is nice and rosey but am unable to obtain any leasing for equipment due to personal status.
How do I cut back any more that I have done........bake bread/cakes/buscuits, shop in Lidl/Tesco unable to persuade teen to take pack lunch to school but have supplied snack for break and drink. Can't get OH to stop smoking but roll ups are cheaper.
Any advice would be helpful
    Thanks
  • Hi podmum - you might be better off starting your own thread so people can find you... they'll ask you to do a statement of affairs too (see sticky thread near top of board)

That is so true ; I had neighbours who had a very nice catamaran & they were always off on sailing hols to south of france, scillies etc... Saw them packing all the food into boxes once & every item was tesco value ;)
  • As a small business owner I find it quite annoying that in order for some people to help themselves get out of debt it appears several ways included using things that their employers then have to pay for.

I am a business owner and have managed to keep my business going with hard work and sacrifices. Yet again due to the "Credit Crunch" times hard going to be hard for everyone, including businesses. I am also a DFW, that's why I joined this site a long time ago. My staff are paid very well I may add but I would not appreciate any of them using facilities at work which I then have to pay for in order to get themselves out of the debt which they got themselves into.

Although they may seem small things to some, no matter how small something is which you take from someone without their permission to me amounts to theft for which the person you are taking it from has to pay for.

Please wake up and realise that not all businesses have a bottomless pit of money, they are in business because of their hard work and financial sacrifices they made. My husband and I risked loosing our house when we first started our business and just because we have progressed I would not appreciate a member of my staff thinking that they could just take what they wanted from us to save themselves having to go through what we went through. If it’s your debt then you should pay for it not others.
