    Ooh I like this thread!

    Things I do in addition:

Started trying to grow own veg - got some peppers and chillis coming on nicely and hope to do potatoes etc. Also herbs cost a fortune picked but a plant is next to nothing.

If you work in a shop/service that offers staff discounts then get to know other people in the same boat and swap discounts

Use Freecycle to get free stuff/get rid of stuff (saves petrol going to the dump as well as being environmentally friendly!)

Buy cheap cooked chickens when they are reduced, use meat for a chicken and potato stew (just mash meat and potatoes with any other veg and stock) and boil up whats left of the carcass to make big pot of stock to freeze

Buy reduced 'expensive' veg such as peppers and cut them into strips and freeze

Share baths - we have a 4 tiered system in my house - me/husband (order depends on who bagsies it first) then baby then dog ;o)

Get a shower timer - got a free one from Ariel's website few weeks ago

Downshift challenge on groceries - try a couple of new things each week to see what you won't miss paying more for!

Do a menu plan for the week including lunches, this has halved my shopping bill

And LOTS more that I can't think of now!
