Hi,
Wondering if you techies could help me.
I want to set up my home/small office network wirelessly.
We have NTL broadband ( ) and currently share the access through a wired network, but I want to get rid of the blooming things - I keep tripping over them
I need a cheep wireless box that will work with NTL and it needs to have at least 1 - but preferably more ethernet ports too.
Im also looking at buying 3 maybe 4 wireless adaptors for our existing PC's.
Many Thanks in advance

I have recently been installing Buffalo's Airstation, it is easy for non techies to install and configure as it has Buffalo's AirStation One-Touch Secure System™ (AOSS™) which performs a secure connection configuration by the touch of the button. I have installed two recently and have been a doddle for family who do not have a clue about wireless routers.
It is under £50 from https://www.scan.co.uk, PCI cards approx £27 ..... not saying these are the cheapest you will find, but I use scan as a good guidline, also MicroDirect have good prices.
This will work fine with NTL, it has 4 fixed ethernet ports and range is good.

Many people love different kit (I love my Belkin preN for distance), but I find this a good price and easy config.

Wireless ....
I install various Wireless solutions for clients and friends .... Personally my preference (after trying various brands), would be Linksys and second choice Netgear. Products such as WRT54GS are very good, straightfoward to configure etc.
With any wireless deployment make sure you envoke security (eg. WEP) - I've lost count of the number of calls-outs to look at self-installed systems that have nothing setup !!!! Secondly make sure you change default passwords, settings and wireless frequency. Also bear-in-mind that wireless "may" not be as fast as a wired connection. If you're simply using the internet this should'nt be a problem, but if you are using data intensive applications (ie. that will be transfering huge ammounts of data between PC's on your LAN) - think seriously before putting these particular devices on wireless. Lastly - note that due to potential interference on the 2.4 waveband (that wireless networks, DECT phones and Video Senders etc operate on and all share), the speed and distances quoted by manufactures may not actually be acheived.
Good Luck.0
