I have a few odds and ends at Kelly's storage facility in Guildford. The whole lot is worth about £150 at the most, and is mostly books and bits and bobs + things of sentimental value. This to say that there are about 8 bags in total, and they could comfortably fiit in a small van.

They quoted me £450-£550 to have those items moved from there to Glasgow, where I am moving soon.

Is this an ok quote? Does anyone know of anywhere/one who would do this for cheaper? I honestly did not expect to have to pay more than £200 - am I being naive?

Thanks - I was starting to wonder whether I was being unreasonable!

I did just that, and the quotes I got go from £369 to over £1000!!

£369 is still quite a lot but it seems more reasonable - I paid £90 for an in-London move of about 2hrs, so this seems like a pretty good deal.

You have to be over 25 to hire a van, none of my friends are, and I'm an expat in the UK, so no such luck as family for me here!

we are moving to a house in the same area but about 10 minutes away.
i got 3 quotes for around £200-£460.
i know i am only moving a short distance away but i donot have any family near by and my hubby works away and i cant drive!

i think this quote is a bit far fetched
