HELP PLEASE! Do i have a virus?

Options
i'm a techno-idiot and am appealing to all those techno-brains out there as i think i have a virus on my desktop.

a few weeks ago, a McAffee scan showed i had 3 trojan horses and 1 virus on my pc. I looked up what they were and although i can't recall the exact names 3 were to do with causing weird pop ups, and 1 (think it was a WIN virus) turned off my windows defender firewall whenever the pc was turned off.

i installed AVG 8.0 internet security suite and this got rid of them - or at least the AVG scans didn't show up any trojans or viruses.

since then, the pop ups have stopped but my windows firewall still turns itself off whenever the pc is closed down (but not when it's asleep). i also get 3 notices whenever i turn on the pc. The first says:

"Run DLL

Error loading c:\users\Melanie\AppData\Local\Temp\deiccyta.dll
The specified module could not be found"

The second says:
"Run DLL

Error loading c:\users\Melanie\AppData\Local\Temp\opnooPFY.dll
The specified module could not be found"

And the third says:
"Run DLL

Error loading c:\users\Melanie\AppData\Local\Temp\opnoNHXo.dll
The specified module could not be found"

Does this mean I still have a virus, even though it doesn't show up on AVG or Norton scans?

I have AVG firewall installed as well as the one that comes with windows vista home basic (32 bit OS, 1GB RAM) and that seems to be working OK so should i be worried?

And is there any way I can stop the notices coming up every time i start my pc?

i'm starting to worry so any help would be much appreciated!
Big thanks in advance.
mel.

First things first. Have a read of the sticky at the top of the board abuot Malware removal (obviously ignoring the bit about XP) and run CCleaner and the spyware removal tools.
  • thanks so much! i should have looked at the thread first, sorry.

i've downloaded spybot and superanti-spyware and the first found 2 virtumonde trojans, which it removed, and the second found another virtumundo, which it also seemed to remove. however, i'm still getting this pop up on reboot:

    "Run DLL
    Errot loading c:\users\Melanie\Appdata\Local\Temp\deiccyta.dll
The specified module could not be found."

This is somewhat of an improvement as before I was getting three of these pop ups - now only one. However, it seems neither spybot or superanti-spyware have managed to get rid of one of the versions of virtumonde.

would my next step be to run ccleaner? if so, should i do it in safe mode?

    thanks.

    ccleaner.

    use msconfig, guide here

to look at startup and remove that item from the start up, you are getting the error message as the offending spyware has been deleted
