hi my partner is schiziophrenic and has been in receipt of dla for the last 8 years-he is well and has started a job but the risk of relapse is high- i have informed tax credits and they say we will lose our premium but is he actually still classed as disabled as he is still schizophrenic or does disablility require dla approval?

did you not appeal the decision to remove DLA?its possible to receive DLA whilst working0

you do need to appeal (or re-submit a claim) using the same criteria as previously (ie. how the disability affects his day to day living) unless that has changed.
If there has been no change in how the disability affects him (and being able to work does not change the underlying diagnosis and how it impacts on him) he should still be entitled.
Persevere and good luck x0 -
The definition of a disability depends on the situation that it is being used in. For WTC you need to fulfil the work disadvantage test, which you can find on the DWP website.
DLA relates to the care and mobility needs of a person, not the condition that he has. So you would need to consider whether he still needs watching over/ support in doing certain things, in order to decide whether to appeal the DLA decision.Gone ... or have I?0
