    Hi Dee,

No, not assuming a BRO just pointing out it is a possibility when comparing the lengths of time before 'freedom'.

5-7 years is the maximum realistic BRO for gambling, the longer periods require pretty much a criminal element to the behaviour.

In terms of the discharge, the restrictions which would normally be lifted at discharge continue for the period of the BRO. So you may be right that the AD still occurs, I honestly don't know, but effectively the discharge is at the end of the BRO.

No Rich AD is definatly after 12 months regardless and that will make a huge difference to a person as regards credit file clear up and when the bankruptcy falls off the credit files etc. All the BRO does is extends the restrictions like informing a creditor you have been bankrupt if you want to borrow more than £500, directorships and such like.

Yep sorry rich the only way discharge is delayed is if the OR asks for it to be delayed and that is usually for being un co-operational,even then that is rare.D

    I'm not arguing. Honestly!

I bow to superior wisdom (especially when I'm being ganged up on).

But the credit file is cleared 6 years after the BR date, dicharge date doesn't affect that.

    Thanks fro your replies.

I rang CCCS agai after I posted and made an appointment for 15th September. They said they will send a pack through the post.

I readlly do hope the gambling doesnt have too much of an impact. Do you think its worth trying to get 2 years of bank statemtns and cc statements to see what its like. He did gamble a huge amount that he won but I think that was about 3 years ago now. He has also said he is going to try and go to GA which Im really gonna push for as Im not doing this for nothing and wont ever be back here again.

You've all been really helpful, Im so glad I found you. Thank you so much.
I'll give national debt line a call tomorrow and see what they say.

If they say go for it, will they help me with what I have to do?

also, as all the debt is in my name, even if my husband did get a job in the very near future, do they take into account his earnings etc?

When you say he gambled a huge amount that he won are you saying he won it first and then lost it, hence roughly even?

yaeh, he spent a couple of hundred but won loads, and gambled it back.

There have been bits and pieces over the last 2 years but if i said it was him, we were stupid and hes going to GA do you think that will help?

Its all rubbish at the moment, and very scary.

When I spoke to CCCS earlier they said to cancel all Direct debits and to open a basic bank account somewhere else to get my wages paid into. Is this right? Ive not missed any payments yetso its very scary doing that. Maybe I still think a bit that i can do it. CAnt believe im in this situation and Im worried if I do go bankrupt what people will think,

I think that will be treated somewhat more leniently as, although you could have reduce the debts by using the winnings, ultimately the gambling activity in total has not worsened the position compared to if he hadn't gambled at all.

Plus, if there's not much in the last couple of years there may be no BRO issued. Not as bad as it first sounded.
