Bathroom colour scheme?

I'm in the process of decorating my bathroom. I'm going to tile around my bath ready for me to put my shower mixer on the wall. I've already bought a shower screen.

I want to have a deep colour paint on the walls eg: Wine walls and white tiles for the bath and shower.

I also like Royal Blue for the walls (the same sort of colour as the hair on MSE shocked smiley) but my mum said blue is a cold colour and will make the bathroom feel cold.

Have you any suggestions on a colour scheme even if it means painting the tiles with Ronseal tile paint?

My bathroom is small and has no light, everytime we use the bathroom we have to turn the light on so a dark colour on the walls will look ok.

My cousin has a house like a show home (hate her!!!..joking). Anyway, she has a bathroom with no window but painted it a dark blue colour with white coving which is decorated & comes down lower than normal & she has spot lights hidden between them & ceiling. It has a roman sort of theme & looks absoloutly georgeous .So would have agreed with your mum but seeing a blue bathroom i think it goes really well & feels a warm room.Good luck!

    for bathrooms
    white
    white
white HAS to be 'the' colour, at least it never dates and you can easily change schemes with different towels, curtains/blinds etc.
Having said that I did have purple in my last house, and lilac and mint in the previous one!

  • we have a small bathroom and a tiny window and have painted it soft lilac and everything else in crisp white, I think you should always paint in a nice relaxing colour this is where you go to wind down at the end of the day and a strong vibrent colour can just be to much in a small room.

Our bathroom is all white with a charcoal grey slate floor and a deep lilac ceiling spotted with downlighters. I put the most interesting colour up there cos that's what you look at while having a soak.:D

I have recently changed the bathroom, to white bathroom suite, white wall tiles (8"x4") wall tiles in a brick pattern, and white mosaic(2"x2") floor tiles. My only regret is that I did not install underfloor heating panels before tiling the bathroom floor as the tiles are very cold under foot, previously carpeted bathroom floor. Underfloor heating panels are not very expensive and I would say worth it, something I overlooked!
