Sapele veneer doors

Would like any advice please.
Recently moved and have ten of these doors. Place is 20 years old and needs some updating.
Can anyone suggest anything to change the colour to something more modern? I suppose I could paint them but would like a lighter looking wood if that is possible.
Would appreciate any suggestions.

we had the same problem in our present house.
i painted them all to save money. a good rub down. (i used a sander), then 2 undercoats and 2 topcoats in white.
i took all the doors off and did them in the carport. easier to paint when flat. i used a small roller. very quick.

remove all the door knobs and hinges first. makes a better job.

Thanks Ormus,I suppose that's what we will have to do until we can replace them all. I was hoping there might be some way we could lighten the doors so that they looked a bit more modern - but as they are only veneered I don't suppose that is possible.
