I feel a record AQA day coming on for Saturday! (and I need it really, I've done a shockingly small amount this month)

Aren't you supposed to soak them in vinegar to toughen them up? or is that just conkers?:rotfl:

When I did ballet I used to have to put surgical spirits on my feet to toughen them up for pointe shoes.. I don't know why I mentioned that, it just reminded me :rotfl:

    My fingers?????
I've heard of bass strings being soaked in vinegar to brighter them up... but fingers is a new one for me.. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    This might help...
To pre-toughen just finger tips you can turn to man’s best friend, the
dog. I don’t know where in the world you live so I can’t provide a
specific source but here in the us, as well as in the U.K. and
probably most counties there are supply stores for hunting animals.

Simply ask for the product used to toughen the foot pads of working or
hunting dogs. In the U.S. a popular brand is Blue Foot Pad Conditioner
but any brand will work. Just brush a bit of this on your finger tips
periodically and the treated area will become tough.

A slightly messier way which can provide an instant fix is to get
something called Nu-Skin and New Skin, a brush on bandage which will
provide a tough but flexible coating that dries in about five minutes.
This is found in drug stores.

Other ways which will work include soaking in strong salt water or
even strong tea (the latter actually tans the skin as in tanning
leather) but neither is very fast or effective.

almost forgot - I got my certificate today from City & Guilds for my teaching course - guess I've passed! :T

If my Tuesday night cookery class is cancelled and I do the next part of the qualification on a Tuesday night instead (CTLLS for anyone in FE!) I realised today I can apply to my department's training fund. It's for anyone wanting to do a work related course (which it will be with my tutor hat on!). I'm been doing some feedback work on the courses attended by others at the moment and saw some existing tutors had had the course I've just passed paid for them, so I'm going to apply to have my next bit paid for me!!
