Can't help much with the silver balls, beside the obvious, but another idea for 100's and 1000's is to dip a bread stick into melted chocolate and then into the strands for fairy wands (v popular at my 4 year olds party) or to do the same with frozen peeled bananas for (mostly) healthy ice lollies. I've not tried that but it sounds good!

you must have this!!!!! but not the nutella one, that's just wrong

i am an aussie and fairy bread is a prerequisite for any children's party. although saying that my 87 year old nan still has it for her lunch.

The silver ball dilemma..... can't think of anything to do with them for eating (apart from putting them on fairy cakes!) so howsabout:
You could use them as decoration on handmade cards
    or
put them in the bottom of a jam jar/s with tea lights on top as kind of a kitch table decoration???
  • ive bought loads of the silver ball for xmas as i love making gingerbread men and stars etc to hang on my xmas tree they look great decorate with the silver balls.x

There used to be a cake mix for "Rainbow Cake" which was basically sponge mix with a sachet of coloured sugar strands which you mixed in at the last minute before spooning the mixture into a cake tin. The sugar strands melt and leave coloured dots through out the sponge.

I don't know if there was anything special about those sugar strands but I suppose you could give it a bash!

I've been keeping my eye out for 12p sugar strands in Tesco but haven't seen any yet. Got orange and lemon slices for 9p though!
  • sainsburys have them reduced still, and asda did, but not sure if still have.x

  • I made the fairy buns this week with the strands stirred through and they worked really well and the kids loved them. I flavoured the buns with a bit of lemon extract as well.

  • At my work we sell Marshmallow Twizzles which are three or four marshmallows on a wooden skewer, covered in melted chocolate then rolled in hundreds and thousands. Lovely with a mug of hot chocolate and they keep for a few days in the fridge.
