got a parking ticket outside my house, is it worth appealing against it?

At this stage (i.e. you're making representations) the majority of highway authorities would take email transactions as valid proof. It just helps back up your argument and they should cancel it. You're showing willing which is the crucial point. If they didn't accept it (and I don't know a council who would, unless you're a repeat offender) the Adjudicator would certainly rule in your favour given that you've:
made representations in a quick and expeditious time frame,
you've done all that can be expected to provide evidence,
your submissions were polite and fair.
Adjudicators would always rule in your favour - loading and unloading is a difficult one for authorities to disprove. As subsequent posters say, unloading can take as long as is reasonably expected. This could be fairly quick for grocery shopping but much longer for white goods and the like.
For example, a recent case was taken to appeal by a hopsital volunteer who received a PCN whilst unloading his 'cargo' - an elderly woman. He was gone for over 15 minutes as he was settling her into her house and making her a cup of tea. The Adjudicator ruled that this was reasonable - given the circumstances.
hi, thanks no not a repeat offender, in fact this is the first parking ticket i have ever had.
I have aready lodged an appeal via the council website, do you think i should send another note to them regarding the proof that i bought a freezer otherwise they might think that i was just trying it on.
Whats more annoying is that someone up the road has had a car parked outside there house all day because they are having someone gut there bathroom and they havent been moved on. I'm there for a few minutes and i get fined not even asked to hurry up.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
I know - bad luck huh?!
Yeah, I would do all you can to provide evidence in a timely and calm fashion. If you have a spare five minutes send them a note enclosing the ebay selling details (and possibly an email confirming pickup date).
Remember to quote your PCN reference and they should reply promptly. Once they see you're serious about your valid exemption they'll soon back down and cancel the PCN.
Good luck!0 -

hi thanks, ive just tped this draft out, what do you think?
''
hello, i contacted you the day after i had received the parking ticket (PCN nbr aove) to appeal, after discussing the issue i wish to send evidence that a freezer was purchased by myself and delivered, I obviously would like to do that in timely fashion but I dont know where to send the evidence to (there isnt anywhere i can uplaod the pages to online).
Could you please advise the best email address to send this to and i will print off and scan the pages to yourselves for clarification. I wish to do this so if my appeal is rejected I would like to show the adjudicators that have responded in a timely manner and tried to provide all the necssary proof to avoid taking up too much of the councils time up.
kinds regards

That looks great.
Was there not a postal address on the back of the PCN? (It might be a PO Box....)
Failing that, give your council a quick call (or whoever your highways authority are) and ask them for a postal/email address so that you may make representations.
One point of clarification - you mention 'delivery'. I thought your fridge was collection, i.e. you were picking it up in your car and it was your car that got the PCN. Make sure you state you were collecting the fridge and not having it delivered if that was the case.
Good luck,

The easiest way to avoid paying parking tickets is to avoid getting them...
But i had nowhere to move the other car to the driveway only has room for one car and all the roads around the oad i'm renting in have yellow lines on them, which al have different allwances for parking throughout the day. I would have had no issue with this if i had been too lazy to move the car and just leave it there, but i was only few minutes dropping it off.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -

How are you getting on? Heard anything from the council yet?0

We're getting very close to 28 days now. After which time the ticket is invalid if no decision has been made on the appeal. AFAIK.0

unable to start a new thread so will attach my problem here in the hope of a response.
I have had a similar situation where Bromley council have managed to put 2 tickets on my fathers disabled registered car outside my home in the space of 15 hours. So they put a ticket on the car at 8pm and then again at 11am the next morning.
The problem is I live in Lewisham borough and have parked vehicles in the spot for the past 3 years and all of a sudden start receiving sudden parking tickets from Bromley borough.
I am appealing the ticket as I feel this is unjust and out of order from Bromley council and also from Lewisham borough as there has been no correspondents from both councils about any changes in traffic law on the street or even that half my street is in another borough.0
