Credit Notes

First apologies to the administrator if this is in the wrong place!
I recently found a credit note that had been issued to me by French Connection for £70. I then noticed to my dismay that it had expired in July 2005. I went into a branch of the store in question and was told that had I tried to use the credit note in October they would have accepted it, but not on 2nd November!
Is my money just lost?
I know that other stores would accept the credit note - Next for example.
Is there any chance of me persuading them to give me goods for my money - or is this a fruitless vent?
n bgtd
HOORAY - I managed to get through to someone at Head Office and they have agreed to extend the credit note! So this is now a big thumbs up to French Connection.
PS. Would love to know where we stand on credit notes for future ref.
